In addition to the telephone support discussed elsewhere, BHL provides documentation in PDF format, a separate training database and access to an on-line help website. Most training is conducted at clients premises in person by full-time BHL Insight employees.
Specific training sessions are configured to meet the varying needs of the specific groups within clients firms. These sessions usually:-
- Specialist training
- End-user Training
- Technical Training
Specialist training
Specialist training focuses on the specific accounting areas. Training is conducted with the relevant individuals responsible for a specific accounting functions (ie. Credit Manager, Financial Manager, Accounts Manager). This training ensures that a good understanding of the navigation and detailed operational concepts of BHL Insight is achieved. It includes hands-on training, exercises to reinforce learning, and problem solving. It also includes references back to policies and procedures derived from both the software configuration and business process review.
End User Training
This training focuses on end-user requirements and usually covers decentralised processes such as;
- Client and Matter enquiries
- Marketing and Contact Management
- Time Recording
- Fee Earner Enquiries and reporting
- Billing
A “Training” database is usually created to facilitate training. If we are converting from another system, as test conversions are performed on the data, the converted data is usually loaded into the “Training” database so that pseudo live data is available as part of the training exercise.
Employees are divided into training groups based on user requirements. A training schedule is created allocating those groups to the timetable. Initially a “Show and Tell” presentation of BHL Insight is provided so all staff have an overview of the BHL Insight system.
Technical Training
Technical training is provided directly to the IT specialist who is responsible for maintaining BHL Insight and Oracle. This training covers basic operation and support of Oracle, such as database start up / shut down, an introduction to the backup and recovery implementation, SQL, Printer Setup, installation of BHL Insight software, and installation of software releases. This training is limited to the specifics of the BHL Insight installation.
